Yoo Takes Out Keo in Malaysian Tour

Korea’s Jaejin Yoo overcame number four seed Elvinn Keo in a thrilling five-game affair in the opening round of the Malaysian Tour Squash VIII, PSA M5 event to reach the quarter-final stage.

Yoo dropped the first game to his opponent but regrouped to take two games without reply and take the lead. Keo came out all guns blazing in the fourth to level things up but, after a fifth game that saw the pair trade a number of scintillating points, Yoo managed to edge the match, sealing a 9-11, 11-7, 11-4, 7-11, 11-6 victory.

He goes on to face Valentino Bon Jovi Bong in the next round after the Malaysian ran away from Andrew Lee with a straight games triumph.

Wildcard Bryan Lim Tze Kang also caught the eye with a shock win over fifth seed Muhammad Hannan. The opening two games were tight affairs but Lim blitzed through to wins in games three and four to seal his spot in the last eight. England’s Adam Murrills will face the 19-year-old for a place in the semi-final after he saw off Gurshan Singh.

Number one seed Addeen Idrakie advanced after defeating Ampandi Muhammad Aqif in four to set up a clash with Mohd Syafiq Kamal after his defeat of Ong Sai Hung.

The other quarter-final fixture will see second seed Chi Him Wong take on India’s Ravi Dixit after they beat Tang Ming Hong and David Clegg, respectively.
