Weekend Roundup: Salazar Captures Montreal Open Crown

Mexico’s Cesar Salazar captured his biggest ever title over the weekend after he dispatched Egypt’s Omar Abdel Meguid in the final of the Montreal Open, PSA M25 tournament.

Salazar had come through a five-game battle with England’s Adrian Waller in the last four, but backed it up well to come through in straight games against Meguid, claiming an 11-8, 16-14, 11-6 victory to seal the fifth PSA World Tour title of his career.

Elsewhere, World No.70 Vikram Malhotra claimed his first Tour title for 12 months – and his fourth overall – after he triumphed in all-Indian final at the TRAC Oil & Gas North of Scotland Open, beating Mahesh Mangaonkar 3-2.

The other two tournaments to draw to a close over the weekend were the DPD/FOS Amsterdam Open and the Christchurch Vets Ipswich Open, with Mohammad Alsarraj taking the honours at the former, while Julianne Courtice prevailed over Hana Moataz in Ipswich.
