Weekend Round-Up: Tang Ming Hong Wins In Auckland

Tang Ming Hong is the 2019 Coverstaff Recruitment Squash XL Open champion after he was victorious in the final in Auckland at the weekend.

The Coverstaff was the only event on the PSA Challenge Tour this weekend, with the PSA Platinum US Open tournament also taking place in Philadelphia.

The Hongkonger defeated Malaysia’s Darren Rahul Pragasam in in a great final in Auckland, with Ming Hong taking the victory in four competitive games.

He took the first on a tiebreak, 12-10, before then winning the second by a slightly more comfortable margin. However, the Malaysia fought back to take the third game, but Ming Hong won the fourth to take the victory.

To reach the final, the Hongkonger had to beat three men playing on home soil, as he downed a trio of New Zealanders in Anthony Lepper, Chris van Der Salm and Lwamba Chileshe.
