Pakistan’s Waqar Mehboob booked his place in the main draw of the CAS International Squash Championship, PSA M25 tournament with a titanic 3-2 triumph over compatriot Asim Khan in the final qualifying round.

World No.301 Mehboob, who has a solitary PSA World Tour title to his name, claimed the opener before the pair traded a number of hard-hitting blows in the second which went in Khan’s favour. Mehboob reclaimed the lead in the third and, despite Khan drawing level in game four, managed to go up a gear to take the fifth game and the win.

He has the distinction of facing number one seed Omar Abdel Meguid in the main draw’s opening round in what is likely to be a tightly-contested fixture.

Farhan Mehboob sealed his place in the main draw with a 3-0 success against Abbas Shoukat and will line up against Danish Atlas Khan for a place in the quarter-final.
