Victoria Open: Four home hopes through on day one

It was a mixed day for the home hopes on day one of the Victoria Open in Australia, as Jennifer Condie, David Turner, James Lloyd, Dylan Molinaro progressed in all-Australian affairs, while Caitlin Purvis, Courtney Scholtz, Cameron Darton, Carina Loi and Damon Macmillan crashed out.

Of the 12 matches, 11 ended in straight-game victories, with South Korean duo Yura Choe and Sunghee Oh recording rapid 13-minute wins over Scholtz and Purvis, respectively.

The closest match of the day was also the last of the day, as 21-year-old Cameron Darton fought back from going one game down to the higher ranked Lam Shing Fung of Hong Kong, before eventually falling to a 3-1 defeat.

Tomorrow promises to be an exciting day of action, with the seeded players entering the draw. Men's top seed Lwamba Chileshe will face Andes Ling of Hong Kong, while women's top seed Sarah Cardwell goes up against Jennifer Condie in an all-Australian affair.
