SRAM PSA 6: Yuen and Azman Take Titles

Top seeds Ivan Yuen and Aifa Azman were victorious at the SRAM PSA 6 in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, with the pair claiming their second victories of the month.

Both players were successful at the SRAM PSA 5, the first tournament played in October, and the pair have both come through the sixth Malaysian event of the year to take yet another title.

Yuen began his campaign wildcard Low Wa Sern in the second round, having received a bye through to the last 16, and he took just 15 minutes to notch his first win of the week.

He then got the better of Hafiz Zhafri and No.4 seed Darren Rahul Pragasam to make it through to the final, where he came up against No.2 seed Mohammad Syafiq Kamal.

The Malaysian downed his compatriot in straight games, requiring just 34 minutes to secure his third title of 2021. He came through the entire event without dropping a game, showing his dominance over the week’s action in Kuala Lumpur.

In the women’s draw, Azman also received a bye through to the second round of the Challenger 10 level tournament, where she got the better of Sehvetrraa Kumar to reach the quarters.

Azman then had to fight her way into the last four, winning a final game tie-break against Ainaa Amani, before then downing No.8 seed Thanusaa Uthrian to make it through to the final.

The event’s top seed needed just 19 minutes to secure the title, her second of the month, defeating No.4 seed Chan Yiwen in straight games to claim the SRAM PSA 6 crown.
