Squash Eredivisie – Speelronde 3: Hapers Cruises To First Crown

21 March 2021

Belgium’s Joeri Hapers dropped just a single game all weekend as he cruised to the title at the Frans Otten Stadion in Amsterdam, winning the Squash Eredivisie – Speelronde 3.

The Belgian was one of just two non-Dutch players in the field, but as the pair both resided in the Netherlands, they were allowed to participate in the tournament.

Hapers was the top seed in the 16-strong field in Amsterdam this weekend, and he got the better of Guido Lindner and Tjue Dubbledam to reach the last eight.

The Belgian then dropped his only game of the tournament in the semi-finals against No.3 seed Rene Mijs, but he came through 3-1 to set up a clash with Marc ter Sluis in the final.

The final lasted just 28 minutes, as Hapers allowed his Dutch counterpart to score just 13 points across the entire match, as he claimed the first title of his professional career.
