Serme and Adel Withdraw from U.S. Open

France’s Camille Serme and Egypt’s Yathreb Adel have withdrawn from the upcoming U.S. Open presented by Truist, which takes place from October 1-6 at the new Arlen Specter US Squash Center.

Serme suffered a calf injury during her CIB Egyptian Open semi-final against Nour El Sherbini, and she will miss the tournament due to that issue. Meanwhile, Adel has pulled out of the Platinum level tournament due to personal reasons.

Due to Serme’s withdrawal, USA’s Amanda Sobhy moves up to the No.4 seed, with Rowan Elaraby moving into the top eight seeds. Sabrina Sobhy take’s Elaraby’s spot in the 9/16] seeding bracket and receives a bye through to the second round, along with Sobhy and the young Egyptian.

South Africa’s Alexandra Fuller takes the spot in the 17/32 seeding, and will now face USA’a Haley Mendez in the first round, with Czech No.1 Anna Serme coming into the draw. Serme will now face Dutch No.1 Milou van der Heijden in the first round.

England’s Alison Waters replaces Adel and moves into the 9/16 seeding bracket, receiving a bye through to the second round in Philadelphia. Scotland’s Lisa Aitken replaces Waters and will now face Latvia’s Ineta Mackevica, with Georgina Kennedy now facing Mariam Metwally on the opening day.
