Seeds Sweep Into Paraguay Open Final Qualifying Stage

All six seeds in the qualifying stages of the Tour de las Americas – Paraguay Open, PSA M10 tournament triumphed in the first qualifying round, with Mexico’s Bryan Cueto leading the charge.

The Mexican World No.271 came up against local player Bruno Alvarenga in his opening fixture, and made short work of his opponent, sealing a routine 11-4, 11-4, 11-3 triumph to reach the next stage.

He will lock horns with Argentine Robertino Pezzota for a place in the main draw, with Pezzota seeing a 19-match win streak come to an end during last week’s Resistencia Open. Pezzota, who won the first two stages of the 2016 Tour de las Americas, bounced back with victory over Augusto Noguera and will line up against Cueto in the pair’s first meeting on the PSA World Tour.

Elsewhere, Malaysia’s Le Roy Leong moved to within a win of reaching his first main draw since 2014 thanks to his win over Rodrigo Cameron, and he is set to face Ignacio Gutierrez next after he beat Gonzalo Gallardo.

Francesco Marcantonio is the highest-ranked Paraguayan left in the qualifying draw courtesy of a win over Sergio Figueredo, while his compatriot, Esteban Casarino, is also through after he dispatched Sebastian Dacosta.

Marcantonio is pitted against Colombia’s Santiago Orozco Parra in he final qualifying round, with Casarino set to face Juan Pablo Roude.
