Scottish Circuit Event: Stewart Claims Third Title of 2021

Rory Stewart continued his fine form on the Challenger Tour this calendar year with a third victory, after he won the Scottish Circuit Event at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.

The Challenger 5 level tournament was run with only Scottish participants, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with the World No.91 as the top seed for the tournament.

Stewart received a walkover through to the quarter-finals, after Douglas Kempsell had to withdraw. His first match came against No.8 seed James Singh, which he won 3-0, before then defeating the surprise pack of the event, wildcard Jamie Henderson, in four games.

In the final, the 25-year-old came up against No.2 seed Fergus Richards, and Stewart showed his class, taking the victory in just 37 minutes, to add the Scottish Circuit Event crown to the City of Peterborough Squash & Racketball Club Open and Carlisle Squash Club Open titles he earned earlier in the year.
