The final qualifying round of the North Coast Open, PSA M5 tournament saw a trio of Australians – headed by World No.405 Nicholas Calvert – progress to the main draw on home soil in Coffs Harbour.

17-year-old Calvert came up against compatriot Ryan Marshall in his fixture and recovered from a game down to record a 6-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-2 victory.

Calvert will take on number four seed Solayman Nowrozi next for a place in a maiden PSA World Tour quarter-final.

Calvert’s fellow Australians, Jon van der Kreek, and Joseph White have also advanced to the next round courtesy of respective triumphs against top qualifying seed Jason Holmes and Jacob Ford.

Van der Kreek is set to meet England’s Connor Sheen, while White will line up against Darcy Evans.

Egypt’s Omar El Tahry is the other player to emerge unscathed from the final round of qualifying and he will go head-to-head with second seed Zac Alexander in the main draw’s first round, with Alexander losing just once in his last 32 matches.
