21 April 2022

The final of the QSF 2 will see No.3 seed Khaled Labib take on top seed Asim Khan at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, after the Egyptian got the better of No.2 seed Syed Azlan Amjad in the last four of the competition.

The Challenger 5 level tournament, which has seen matches take place late at night due to Ramadan, was down to the semi-final stage on Wednesday evening. Egypt’s No.3 seed Khaled Labib took on Qatari No.2 seed Syed Azlan Amjad, and apart from a close third game, he was in control throughout the contest.

Labib won the first two games with ease, dropping just seven points across them to hold a commanding lead in the clash, before Amjad fought back to win the third game on a tie-break 12-10. The Egyptian regrouped though, and came on firing in the fourth game, going on to win it 11-1, to book his place in Thursday’s final.

He will face the tournament’s top seed, Pakistan’s Asim Khan, in that final in Doha, after the World No.58 defeated Malaysia’s Ong Sai Hung in straight games. The Pakistani spent 35 minutes on court, taking an 11-5, 11-8, 11-6 victory to advance to the final.
