QSF 2 QF: Sai Hung Downs Pragasam To Break Into Semis

20 April 2022

The quarter finals of the QSF 2 took place on Tuesday evening at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with Malaysia’s Ong Sai Hung taking down compatriot and No.4 seed Darren Rahul Pragasam to break into the last four of the competition.

Hung is the No.5 seed for the Challenger 5 level tournament, and he came up against his compatriot in the last eight, and was able to win through in straight games. Pragasam had won in five on the opening day, while Hung had spent less than half an hour on court, and that was one of the keys to the match.

The No.5 seed dropped just 14 points across the entire contest, winning 11-6, 11-7, 11-1 to overcome his fellow Malaysian for only the second time in eight matches. Hung will now advance to the semis, where he will take on the tournament’s top seed, Pakistan’s Asim Khan.

The other semi-final will see No.2 seed Syed Azlan Amjad, the leading Qatari in the event, take on No.3 seed Khaled Labib, for a spot in the finals after the pair overcame the challenges of Kuwaiti No.1 Ammar Altamimi and Belgium’s Joeri Hapers in the last eight.

The semi-finals of the QSF 2 will take place at the Khalifa International Complex in Doha on Wednesday evening, with the last four doing battle to reach Thursday’s finals.
