QSF 2: Khan Claims Third Title Of Season

22 April 2022

A successful 2021-2022 season continued for Pakistan’s Asim Khan this week, as he claimed his third title since September, winning the QSF 2 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, Qatar on Thursday evening.

The Challenger 5 level competition saw matches take place late at night, due to Ramadan, which is currently ongoing. The final saw Khan take on Egypt’s Khaled Labib, who had previously caused an upset to knock out the No.2 seed in the semi-finals of the event.

At one point, it looked like there would be another upset, as the Egyptian found himself a game to the good, following a 13-11 victory in the third. However, Khan would not be denied, and fought back to take the fourth game 11-8 to send the match into a decider.

It was tense last game in Doha, with Khan coming through to win the contest in five, and claim the Challenger 5 level title. It is his third of the season, following wins at the Punjab International Open and the DHA Islamabad International Squash Championship.
