PSA Anyospark SF: Lopez and Romiglio Into Final

Spain’s Edmon Lopez and Argentina’s Leandro Romiglio will meet in the final of the PSA Anyospark in Andorra la Vella, Andorra on Sunday afternoon, after the pair came through their respective last four matches in very differing ways.

The Argentinian, who came into the Challenger 5 level tournament as the No.5 seed, and having already defeated No.3 seed Curtis Malik, he set his sights on overcoming No.2 seed Ivan Perez.

Romiglio, who featured at the CIB PSA World Championships for the first time thanks to his victory at the Val de Reuil Normandie, started strongly, winning the first game 11-3. He lost the second 11-8, but fought back to win the third, and then the fourth by the same scoreline. In typical style, it was a lengthy encounter, with the Argentine coming out on top after 74 minutes of action.

He will now face another Spaniard, in Edmon Lopez, in the final, after the No.6 seed received a walkover through his semi-final contest with Welshman Emyr Evans, who was unable to play through injury.

The final of the PSA Anyospark will take place on Sunday, June 5, with the match between Edmon Lopez and Leandro Romiglio being streamed live on the Challenger Tour’s YouTube channel.
