Polskisquash Enjoy Open QF: Pytlowany Joins Top Three Seeds

13 May 2022

The quarter finals of the Polskisquash Enjoy Open Challenger 3 took place on Friday afternoon, and there was a shock result, as No.8 seed Jakub Pytlowany overcame the challenge of No.4 seed Kamil Przybitkowski to advance to the semi-finals.

Pytlowany needed just half an hour on court against his higher-ranked opponent, with a first game tie-break being crucial to the outcome of the game. The No.8 seed won it 14-12, before going on to win the next two games, dropping just six points across the pair. He will now face top seed Daniel Poleshchuk in the last four, after the Israeli downed No.6 seed Marcin Sikorski in straight games.

In the bottom half of the draw, both Spain’s Marc Lopez and home favourite Filip Jarota had to come through tricky five-game battles to make it into the semi-finals. The Pole found himself two games behind against compatriot Leon Krysiak, but was able to fight back to win the next three games to overcome the No.5 seed in 46 minutes.

Spain’s Lopez went two games up against Poland’s No.7 seed Kajetan Lipski, but the Pole fought back, winning the third 14-12, before also going on to take the fourth game as well. However, the Spaniard, the No.3 seed for the competition, was able to regroup to win the fifth to advance to the semis.

The last four of the Challenger 3 level tournament will take place on Saturday, May 14, on a bumper day which will also see the final later in the afternoon at Enjoy Squash in Bielsko-Biala, Poland.
