Odense Open: Preview & How To Watch Live

28 February 2022

The first of four qualifying events for the 2021-2022 PSA World Championships in Cairo kicks off tomorrow, with the Odense Open beginning at the Odense Squash Club in Denmark.

We will have live action from the glass court at the Odense Squash Club live on *SQUASHTV*, with a SQUASHTV Lite production, which is a single camera setup designed to bring fans even more LIVE and on demand squash content than ever before throughout the week. Action from the side courts will also be broadcast on the *club’s YouTube channel* for the first two days.

This Challenger 10 level tournament has much more riding on it than just points and prize money this week, with a guaranteed spot at the PSA World Championships up for grabs for the winners.

South Africa’s Alexandra Fuller will be the top seed for the women’s draw, with the World No.41 scheduled to face either England’s Saran Nghiem or Frenchwoman Lea Barbeau in the second round. Possible meetings with No.8 seed Nadeen Kotb and Switzerland’s No.3 seed Nadia Pfister lie in wait for the South African.

England’s Julianne Courtice will be the No.2 seed, and she will start her campaign against either Germany’s Saskia Beinhard of Norwegian Andrea Fjellgaard, as she aims to continue her good form from the Windy City Open presented by the Walter Family. Courtice could then face No.6 seed Salma Eltayeb and No.4 seed Menna Hamed en route to the final.

India’s Mahesh Mangaonkar lead the way in the men’s draw, and he will start his campaign in Odense against either Danish wildcard Magnus Nørtoft Laursen or New Zealand’s Temwa Chileshe, before possible meetings with Colombia’s Juan Camilo Vargas and Egypt’s No.3 seed Yahya Elnawasany.

USA’s Faraz Khan will be the No.2 seed, and will lead the bottom half of the draw for the tournament. The American could face England’s Robert Downer and Portuguese No.1 Rui Soares en route to the final, if he is to make it all the way in Odense.

The action gets underway on Tuesday, March 1 at 14:00 (GMT+1), with play from the glass court being shown live on SQUASHTV, while action from Court 5 will be on the club's YouTube channel.
