NM Academy Open: MacGregor and Adderley Take Titles

Georgia Adderley secured her third title of the year, while Stuart MacGregor claimed a maiden PSA Tour title, as the pair were victorious at the AS Insurance Services Ltd NM Academy Open.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Challenger 3 & 5 tournaments were ran with domestic only entrants with players residing in the United Kingdom being allowed to participate.

Adderley had already claimed two titles over the course of the calendar year, and she came into this week’s event in Sheffield as the No.2 seed. The Scot started her campaign with a comfortable victory over Asia Harris in the opening round.

She then defeated compatriot Katriona Allen in the quarter-finals, before then getting the better of No.3 seed Alicia Mead to make the final of the tournament. There, she overcame fellow Scot, and the event’s top seed, Alison Thomson, to claim her third title of the year.

The men’s draw saw No.3 seed Stuart MacGregor start with a win over wildcard Sam Osborne-Wylde, before he then beat Carlton Oldham to make it through to the last four.

In the semis, MacGregor downed No.2 seed Harry Falconer, before then coming up against top seed Nick Wall in the final. He defeated his fellow Englishman in four games to win the title, his first on the Tour.
