Metwally Moves Through to Monte Carlo Main Draw

Egypt’s Mariam Metwally secured her spot in the main draw of the Monte Carlo Classic, PSA W35 tournament after an assured straight games victory over Enora Villard in the final round of qualifying.

The World No.46 required five games to see off Villard’s fellow Frenchwoman Chloe Mesic in the previous round but showed no signs of fatigue against Villard, completing an 11-5, 11-8, 11-6 victory in 45 mins to progress.

Metwally will test her mettle against Line Hansen in the main draw’s opening round in what will be just her second PSA World Tour main draw appearance this year.

Olivia Blatchford will also compete in the next round after she scored a comprehensive 3-0 triumph over England’s Fiona Moverley. Her reward is a fixture with number one seed Sarah-Jane Perry in what is sure to be a tough encounter.

Former World No.2 Natalie Grinham sealed her main draw berth with a straight games win against Nele Gilis and meets Heba El Torky for a place in the quarter-final.

Meanwhile, Nouran El Torky, sister of Heba, will take on former World Champion Rachael Grinham, sister of Natalie, after she dispatched Millie Tomlinson in four.
