England’s Joshua Masters came up with a superb performance against number four seed Douglas Kempsell in the second round of the City of Greater Bendigo International, PSA M5 event to triumph in a titanic five game epic.

The unseeded Masters, who was out for revenge after Kempsell prevented him from lifting his first ever PSA World Tour title in the final of the Greater Shepparton City Council International last week, was on the back foot at the start of the match as Kempsell took the first game before Masters battled back to level the match up.

Maidstone-born Masters then found himself 2-1 down after a flurry of fine squash from Kempsell but he turned the match on its head after the fourth game went to a tie-break. The World No.188 took advantage of Kempsell’s tiring legs to open up a lengthy lead in the fifth and final game to secure a 4-11, 11-5, 9-11, 14-12, 11-4 victory and set up a quarter-final clash with Kush Kumar after the Indian teenager bested Lewis Doughty.

Tournament favourite Tayyab Aslam continued his flawless start to the tournament with a second successive 3-0 win, this time dispatching Rhys Dowling with relative ease. The World No.84 will face Ko Youngjo for a place in the semi-final after the South Korean saw off Enzo Corigliano.

Second seed Joel Makin is also through to the quarter-final after he stormed to victory against Rohan Toole. The Welshman controlled the match and surged through to the next round with an 11-3, 11-3, 11-4 triumph. Addeen Idrakie will meet him there after the 21-year-old Malaysian claimed a victory over Alex Noakes.

Meanwhile, Joshua Larkin kept up Australian hopes with a win over Jaejin Yoo and faces Valentino Bon Jovi Bong after he defeated Sam Gould.
