JK Windsor Open SF: Todd & Garcia Into Final In Ontario

21 August 2022

The final of the JK Windsor Open is set at the Devonshire Mall in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, with home favourite and top seed Nikki Todd ready to take on Mexico’s Diana Garcia for the Challenger 5 level down.

Todd, the top seed for the competition, took on Japan’s Erisa Sano Herring in the semi-finals, after the No.5 seed had taken out No.3 seed Laura Tovar in the last eight. The pair were level after two games, before Todd was able to move out into a lead after the third, one she did not relinquish. An 11-5 win in the fourth game gave her the victory, and saw her move through to the final of the event.

She will now face the tournament’s No.2 seed, Mexico’s Diana Garcia, after the World No.96 overcame the challenge of the unseeded Maria Moya. The Ecuadorian had already gotten the better of two seeded players to reach the semis, but Garcia proved to be a step too far. A 14-12 tie-break win in the third was crucial for the Mexican, who then went on to take the fourth as well to seal the deal.

Todd and Garcia will now meet in the final of the JK Windsor Open on Sunday afternoon at the Devonshire Mall in Ontario, Canada, where the pair will face off for the Challenger 5 level crown. You can keep up to date with live scores from the final on the PSA World Tour’s website.
