HSC Open: Crouin Secures Fifth Title of 2021

1 November 2021

Frenchman Victor Crouin continued his stellar form this year as he won his fifth event of 2021, taking victory at HSC Open – Presented by Assurance Financial at Houston Squash Club.

Crouin, the World No.28, had already won twice on home soil, at the PSA Challenger 10 Le Reve Nancy and Cognac Open, along with two wins in the United States, at the Squash on Fire Open and the South State Bank Marietta Open.

He came into this Challenger 20 event as the No.2 seed, and after receiving a bye through to the second round of the competition, he then got the better of New Zealand’s Lwamba Chileshe.

The 22-year-old then got the better of Welshman Emyr Evans in a four-game battle in the quarter final, before defeating Scotland’s Alan Clyne in straight games to make it through to the final.

Crouin took on Asim Khan for the title, with the Pakistani No.2 having already taken out two of the top four seeds to make it this far in the competition. It would take the Frenchman just 41 minutes to seal his fifth victory of the year, though, as he won in straight games to take the title in Houston.
