Egyptian 19-year-old Mayar Hany recorded the biggest win of her fledgling career after a superb display saw her down number one seed Line Hansen to lift the Women’s Samson Seattle Open, PSA W10 title.

Hany had come close to claiming a maiden PSA World Tour crown on a number of occasions in the past with three successive semi-final finishes last year but she was appearing in her first ever final in Seattle. Hansen, on other hand, is an experienced stalwart of the Women’s game and had claimed 14 titles in a lengthy career.

Cairo-born Hany started well and was the victor in a series of punishing rallies that saw her take the opener and she redoubled her efforts in game two to open up a commanding lead.

Hansen, who was searching for a first piece of PSA World Tour silverware since 2014, rallied in the third and halted Hany’s momentum impressively to claw a game back and gain a foothold in the match.

Hany refused to crumble though and, despite the mounting pressure as Hansen attempted to find a way back into the encounter, she held on to finish off the victory by an 11-9, 11-4, 9-11, 11-4 scoreline and open up her PSA World Tour title account.

Result – Final: Seattle Open 2016
[5] Mayar Hany (EGY) bt [1] Line Hansen (DEN) 3-1: 11-9, 11-4, 9-11, 11-4 (55m)
