Number one seed Chris Hanson captured his first PSA World Tour title with a 3-1 defeat of Mexican teenager Jesus Camacho in the final of the Kiva Club Open, PSA M5 event.

Hanson was the heavy favourite for the fixture given that he was ranked 117 places above Camacho and victories over Italo Bonatti and Ahmad Alzabidi in the previous rounds had further enhanced his title credentials. Camacho, on the other hand, was the tournament’s surprise package and had taken out a trio of seeds on his way to the final.

Left-hander Hanson, who was appearing in his first PSA World Tour final, built up an early advantage in the first game but 17-year-old Camacho soon found his way back into the match to tie things up at 9-9. However, an unforced error from the Mexican coupled with a sublime drop from Hanson saw the United States player take the opener. Camacho came storming back in the second though to peg Hanson back with a scintillating display.

The third game started evenly but a succession of errors from Camacho handed Hanson the initiative and the World No.85 made no mistake in reclaiming the lead heading into the fourth game.

A minor injury from Camacho brought about a short pause in proceedings but he was soon up on his feet as the early stages of the final game were tightly contested. Hanson pulled away though to open up an unassailable lead to record an 11-9, 4-11, 11-7, 11-4 margin of victory and break his PSA World Tour title duck.

Result – Final: Kiva Club Open 2015
