Egyptian qualifier Menna Hamed has reached her first ever PSA World Tour semi-final after upsetting home favourite Teh Min Jie in the pair’s mammoth quarter-final fixture in the Malaysian Tour XI, PSA W5 tournament.

After a brutal opener which Min Jie took on the tie-break, Hamed battled back to ensure parity before conceding another closely fought game to her opponent.

However, she recovered brilliantly from the deficit to edge out a gruelling 13-15, 11-9, 10-12, 11-9, 11-6 triumph to reach the last four.

She will do battle with another Malaysian, Zulhijjah Binti Azan, in the next round after Azan came through comfortably against Aifa Azman.

Christine Nunn and Rachel Arnold will contest the other semi-final fixture after Nunn advanced against Aika Azman and Arnold beat Sadia Gul.
