Equinox Boston Open: Tarek Downs Four Seeds To Take Victory

Egypt’s Marwan Tarek has secured his first title on the PSA Tour since 2019 with a stunning run through the field at the Equinox Boston Open, beating four seeded players en route to victory.

Tarek, the World No.204 in the October rankings, was unseeded for the tournament, and has to start in the first round, where he came up against Canada’s Cameron Seth.

After downing the Canadian in straight games, he then defeated top seed Christopher Binnie in just 22 minutes. The young Egyptian got the better of No.5 seed Shawn DeLierre in the quarter-finals to advance to the last four.

He overcame the No.7 seed, Malaysia’s Addeen Idrakie, in a four-game battle in the semis, a match where he dropped his only game of the tournament. The final saw the Egyptian come up against Canada’s David Baillargeon, the event’s No.2 seed. Tarek won in straight games to claim an unbelievable win, his first since 2019.
