Edmonton Squash Club Open RD1: Top Seeds All Through In Three

The opening round of the Setanta Edmonton Squash Club Open threw up no surprises, with all of the eight seeded players making it through to the quarter finals, without a single game being dropped.

The Challenger 3 level tournament began on Thursday evening, and all of the seeds won in straight games. Top seed Tang Ming Hong overcame one of four Canadians in action, in Momo El Serafy. He won in 23 minutes and will now take on the sole remaining Englishman, Aaron Allpress, in the last eight of the competition.

The other match in the top half of the draw will be an all-Hong Kong clash between No.5 seed Wailok To and No.3 seed Matthew Lai, while Colombia’s Nicolas Serna will also take on a Hongkonger in the quarter finals. He will face No.4 seed Chung Yat Long in the last eight on Friday.

No.2 seed Harley Lam was another to overcome Canadian opposition on the opening day, as he defeated Brett Schille in straight games. He will now face Czech Republic’s Petr Nohel in the last eight.

The quarter finals of the Challenger 3 level Setanta Edmonton Squash Club Open will take place on Friday, April 22, with the last eight going head-to-head for places in the semis.
