Edinburgh Sports Club Open: Top Eight Seeds Ease Into Quarter Finals

The second day of the Edinburgh Sports Club Open saw yesterday’s winners take on the eight seeded players, and there was barely a hint of an upset as the seeds all won in straight games to advance to the quarter-finals.

The home hopes that made it through yesterday’s first round all lost, two of them losing out to compatriots Lisa Aitken and Alison Thomson, as the pair kept Scottish interest alive.

Aitken now meets England’s Rachael Chadwick while Thomson takes on No.4 seed Alexandra Fuller. The pair of Emily Whitlock and Julianne Courtice, who are the top two seeds in the event, face Australia’s Donna Lobban and Japan’s Satomi Watanabe, respectively in the quarter-finals.
