CNS International Championship: El Sirty Secures Another Victory

6 November 2021

Moustafa El Sirty’s incredible 2021 continues, as he has become only the second player on Tour to secure seven victories. His seventh came in Karachi, at the 15th CNS International Squash Championship.

The Egyptian had already claimed three victories on home soil, with further wins coming in Madeira, Austria and then Pakistan last month.

He came into the event as the No.4 seed, and received a bye through to the second round, where he defeated compatriot Khaled Labib in just 19 minutes to start his campaign.

El Sirty then got the better of Hong Kong’s Tsz Kwan Lau in the quarter finals, before coming from behind against home favourite Tayyab Aslam, downing the Pakistani No.1 in five games.

The young Egyptian, who is now at his highest world ranking of World No.51, came up against Hong Kong’s Tsz Fung Yip in the final, and he took the lead twice, after winning both the first and third games.

El Sirty found himself going to a deciding game after the Hong Kong No.1 brought it back. However, it would be the Egyptian that eventually took the title, winning the final game 11-9 to win in 49 minutes.

He now has seven titles to his name in 2021, two more than any other male player on Tour, and now alongside England’s Georgina Kennedy, who has been a constant threat in the women’s game all year.
