CIB Egyptian Challenger Tour 4: Tournament Preview

The last event to start this week on the Challenger Tour will be the CIB Egyptian Challenger Tour 4, which begins on Saturday 25 September at El Shams Sporting Club in Cairo.

The tournament is limited to regional entries, allowing those based in Africa and the Middle East to participate, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

World No.15 Zahed Salem will be the top seed for the men’s event, and he will be the favourite for the title come Wednesday afternoon, with Karim El Hammamy, Mazen Gamal and Moustafa El Sirty all aiming to be challenging for the victory.

There will be three non-Egyptians in the men’s draw, with Qatari No.2 Syed Azlan Amjad as the No.6 seed for the tournament. Kuwait’s Ammar Altamimi and Iraqi Mohamed Ferman Hassan will be in the 9/16 seeding bracket for the event.

The women’s draw will be led by Hana Ramadan, the World No.46, and she will have six juniors waiting in the wings if she is not to take home the title.

Sana Ibrahim, Salma Eltayeb, Nour Aboulmakarim, Kenzy Ayman, Fayrouz Aboelkheir and Nardine Garas will all be in action this week, aiming for victory on Wednesday at El Shams.
