CIB Egyptian Challenger Tour 2: Tournament Preview

The second instalment of the CIB Egyptian Challenger Tour begins on Saturday 14 August, with play running for five days at the Wadi Degla Club in Maadi.

The tournament is being run with domestic entrants only due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with just two non-Egyptians in action. Iraq’s Mohamed Ferman Hassan is the sole foreign player in the men’s draw, while Japan’s Brooke Elizabeth Herring is the only non-Egyptian in the women’s event.

Salma Eltayeb willl be the top seed for the women’s event, with Nour Aboulmakarim, Kenzy Ayman, and Fayrouz Abelkheir, who is now at a career-high of World No.104, as the main contenders. Only two of the 16 seeds are not juniors, with Rana Ismail and Nada Ehab taking part.

Mostafa El Sirty, the World No.72, will be the top seed for the men’s draw, with Yahya Elnawasany being his main challenger once again. The likes of Ahmed Hosny, Omar ElKattan and Aly Abou Eleinen will also be aiming for glory.
