Chamberlain Open: Title Favourites Mohamed and Tomlinson Reach Final

12 May 2018

The finals of the 2018 Chamberlain Squash Open will feature the top seeds of both the men’s and women’s events after Egypt’s Zahed Mohamed and England’s Millie Tomlinson came through their semi-final matches to earn their places in the title decider.

Mohamed, the World No.25 from Alexandria, will appear in his first PSA World Tour final for 12 months after he defeated compatriot Mohamed Reda 11-8, 11-5, 11-8 in the first of two all-Egyptian semi-final fixtures in the men’s event.

Fifth seed Youssef Soliman now stands between Mohamed and the PSA M25 title after he held firm to upset number two seed Karim Ali Fathi by a 3-2 margin.

Some fine play from Soliman saw the 21-year-old go two games ahead but Fathi fought back to restore parity to the scores. A tense fifth game went the way of Soliman though to ensure that the World No.52 and Mohamed will go head-to-head for the first time ever in the final.

Meanwhile, top seed Millie Tomlinson will take on second seed Menna Hamed in the women’s W10 final after they achieved respective wins against Enora Villard and Salma Youssef on semi-finals day.

World No.30 Tomlinson is on the hunt for a 14th tour title, while Hamed is aiming for a fourth.

Action from the final begins at 15:00 local time (GMT) and squash fans can watch the matches live on the Chamberlain Open’s YouTube channel.
