Challenger Tour Weekly Preview: Events On Three Continents

There is action across the globe on the Challenger Tour this week, with tournaments being held in Australia, Malaysia and the United States over the next seven days.

The action begins on Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur with the SRAM PSA 5, with the Equinox Boston Open and the Rockhampton Open taking place later in the week.

The Challenger 10 level tournament in Boston is the only fully international event on the Tour this week, while the events in Australia and Malaysia are both restricted to domestic entrants due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

SRAM PSA 5
The first event of the week is the SRAM PSA 5, with the Challenger 10 men’s and women’s event taking place at the National Squash Centre from Tuesday 28 September to Friday 1 October.

World No.49 Ivan Yuen is the top seed in the men’s draw, while Aifa Azman leads the way in the women’s draw. 32 players will be aiming for glory in Kuala Lumpur this week.

Equinox Boston Open
The Equinox Boston Open features a truly international field, with 12 nationalities represented across the 24-strong field for the Challenger 10 event, which begins on Thursday 30 September.

Jamaican No.1 Christopher Binnie is the top seed for the tournament, with the Malaysian duo of Addeen Idrakie and Mohammad Syafiq Kamal, Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal, England’s Sam Todd and the Canadian trio David Baillargeon, Michael McCue and Shawn DeLierre in the top eight seeds.

Rockhampton Open
Scottvale Health Club plays host to the Rockhampton Open this week, with the Challenger 3 tournament taking place from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 October.

Rhys Dowling will be the top seed, in a mainly-Australian field. Two foreign players, in Malaysia’s Bryan Lim Tze Kang and Malta’s Kijan Sultana will be amongst the top eight seeds for the event.
