Carlisle Squash Club Open: Stewart Downs Jenkins To Win

Scotland’s Rory Stewart got the better of Englishman Miles Jenkins to win the Carlisle Squash Club PSA Open on Friday evening, winning a 75-minute marathon battle.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was run with only domestic entrants allowed, and Stewart was the top seed for the event.

He started his campaign with a comfortable victory over Englishman James Wilkinson in the first round, before overcoming No.7 seed Mike Harris to make the semi-finals.

He then needed over an hour and a five-gamer to down Sam Todd, before coming up against Jenkins in the final, where he would need 75 minutes to taker the crown.

After winning the first game of the final, Stewart found himself 2-1 down and needing a fightback. That’s exactly what he did, winning the last two games 11-8 and 11-5 to claim his second win of 2021.
