BRESS Breda Open: Smith Takes Maiden Tour Title

The BRESS Breda Open came to a conclusion in the Netherlands on Sunday afternoon, with England’s Ben Smith defeating Irishman Sam Buckley in straight games to claim his first title on the PSA Tour.

The 19-year-old had come through his first three matches of the Challenger 3 level tournament without dropping a game, and that continued into the final, with a commanding performance over the Irishman.

Smith, the No.3 seed for the tournament, came in to the final as the favourite, and he dropped just 13 points over the course of three games en route to the title, winning 11-4, 11-7, 11-2 in 30 minutes in Breda.

The victory rounds off a good weekend for English Squash, after Charlie Lee won his second title of the season at the Sekisui Open in Switzerland on Saturday evening.
