BISL International Squash Championship: Fayyaz and Aslam Win Titles

30 November 2020

Tournament top seeds Amna Fayyaz and Tayyab Aslam both lived up to their expectations by winning the titles at the BISL International Squash Championship in Quetta this weekend.

The event, which was for domestic entries only due to COVID-19 regulations, saw an entirely Pakistani-based field across both the men’s and women’s draws.

There were no surprises at the sharp end of the tournament, as the top two seeds played out both finals, with World No.95 Amna Fayyaz defeating the tournament’s No.2 seed, Faiza Zafar, in straight games.

Fayyaz, who is just 18-years-old, claimed the second victory of her career, and also a second on home soil, having won the first event of the Pakistan Squash Circuit tour in 2019.

The men’s draw saw top seed, and World No.44, Tayyab Aslam, comfortably dispatch No.2 seed Asim Khan in a four-game battle in the final, with Aslam taking home the 9th title of his PSA career.

The Pakistani continues his great record on home soil, having now won four of his last five tournaments in his home nation, thanks to wins at the FMC Pvt Ltd International Men’s Squash Championship, Serena Huawei Pakistan International Squash Tournament and the 13th DG Rangers SIndh Squash Championship, all in 2019.
