B&T Panmure Open: Lwamba Downs Temwa In All-Chileshe Final

The final of the Barfoot & Thompson Panmure Open was a family affair, with the Chileshe brothers coming head-to-head. It was older brother Lwamba that took the victory, beating younger brother Temwa in straight games in the final.

Chileshe started his week at Panmure Squash Club with a confident straight games victory over Australia’s Damon Macmillan, before then defeating fellow New Zealander, and the tournament’s No.6 seed, Anthony Lepper, also in a three-game contest.

The World No.104 then took on Malaysia’s No.4 seed Duncan Lee in the semi-finals, and once again, he was able to come through unscathed, winning in straight games to advance to the final in Auckland.

Coming into the final, the elder of the two siblings had the 3-2 advantage of his younger brother, including winning in two finals last year, the Northland Open and the Morrinsville Open, but Temwa had won their last meeting, which came at the Val de Reuil Normandie earlier this year.

The final of the Barfoot & Thompson Panmure Open went the way of the elder brother, with Lwamba winning in straight games to come through the Challenger 3 level tournament without dropping a game, claiming his third title on Tour following those two victories last year.
