Aqif Arrows in on Malaysian Tour Main Draw

Local player Ampandi Muhammad Aqif came up with a stunning display to blow away Sam Gould in the final qualifying round of the Malaysian Tour Squash V, PSA M5 tournament and advance through to the main draw of a PSA World Tour event for the second time in his career.
The World No.428 had fresher legs than his opponent after receiving a walkover in the first round and Gould’s tiredness began to tell in the latter stages of each game as he fell to a 3-0 defeat against the Malaysian.
Aqif moves on to the main draw where he will face compatriot Elvinn Kleo as the duo do battle for a place in the quarter-final.
Henry Leung followed up his upset of Syed Ali Mujtaba Shah Bokhari in the first qualifying round with another surprise win over Umar Balaj Malik. The 20-year-old from Hong Kong downed his opponent in four games and will face Valentino Bon Jovi Bong in the first round of the main draw.
Ranvijay Singh overcame a poor start to defeat Marcus Wei Jie Sim and is set to meet Mohd Syafiq Kamal in the next round. Tsun Hei Yuen will join him there after a straight-games defeat of Ong Sai Hung with Chi Him Wong his opponent when the main draw begins tomorrow.
