Anyos Park Open: Bonmalais Downs Stewart In Final

11 June 2021

Frenchman Sebastien Bonmalais has claimed the Anyos Park Open crown after defeating Scotland’s Rory Stewart in the final at Club Esportiu Anyos Park.

The event was held with regional restrictions on entries due to the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning only those currently living in the European continent being allowed to play.

Bonmalais was the top seed for the Challenger 5 event in Andorra la Vella, Andorra, and got his hands on silverware for the first time since the Greetings Squash Championship in 2019.

The Frenchman started his campaign with a comfortable victory over Andorran David Forne, before beating Czech No.9 seed Marek Panacek and Spanish No.6 seed Sergio Garcia Pollan to reach the last four.

In the semis, he got the better of compatriot Toufik Mekhalfi, before overcoming Scotland’s Rory Stewart in a four-game battle in the final which lasted just over an hour. Bonmalais now has four titles to his name on Tour.
