Youssef Soliman is one of the most exciting young talents on the PSA World Tour, and he broke inside the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time in September 2021.

Cairo-born Soliman made his PSA World Tour debut in 2013 but initially found the transition from junior tournaments to the professional Tour a challenge and had to wait two years to reach a PSA World Tour final, where he narrowly missed out on winning the Malaysian Tour Squash I title to Tsz Fung Yip.

Five months later, Soliman unexpectedly made it to the final of the 2015 World Junior Championship, but defending champion Diego Elias stood firm to prevent him from becoming the ninth Egyptian winner of the prestigious title. Soliman then bounced back from his World Junior Championship heartbreak in the 2015/16 season to record semi-final finishes at the JSW Chennai Circuit and Qatar Circuit.

After beginning the 2016 with a first round exit at the Wimbledon Open, Soliman secured three successive tournament in wins in April and May. Soliman first recorded victory at the Scotland Open where he downed Christopher Binnie over three games to secure his maiden PSA World Tour title.

Victory at the Ipswich Open and Jersey Squash Classic quickly followed for the Egyptian as he swept aside Mark Fuller and Michael Harris respectively in the finals to secure his second and third successive Tour title. The next year Soliman triumphed again, this time at the West of Ireland Open where he beat Germany’s Jens Schoor over four games to lift the title.

The Egyptian then won again a month later, as he secured the International Squash of Madeira Island Open title with a win over Joshua Masters in the final. After a couple of semi final appearances, at the Nash Cup and the fourth event on the Qatar Circuit, Soliman took another win on the tour. He won the Ralph’s Texas Bar Open, beating another Englishman in the final, this time George Parker.

The Egyptian took two more titles in 2018, as he secured the Pakistan Chief of the Air Staff International Men’s Open and the FMC International Men’s Squash Championship. He then reached the quarter finals of the Kolkata International the same year, before finishing runner-up at the CAS International Squash Championship in 2019, losing to compatriot Mostafa Asal in the final.

Soliman then made it to the last 16 of the J.P. Morgan China Open before reaching the semi-finals of the Malaysian Open. The Egyptian then made it through to the third round of a Platinum level tournament for the first time in his career at the 2020 J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions. He repeated the feat at the Windy City Open presented by the Walter Family a month later.

His performances over the course of 2020 saw him make it into the top 30 of the World Rankings for the first time in his career, doing so in November of that year.

Soliman made his maiden Platinum quarter final at the Allam British Open in the summer of 2021, and that result saw him break into the top 20 in World Rankings. It was followed by a string of third round appearances, as he made it into the last 16 of five straight events. He then started 2022 with a quarter final result at the Gold level Houston Open.

Soliman then followed with a semi-final appearance at the Squash on Fire Open in Washington, D.C., before making it to the final of the Karachi Open Squash Championships in Pakistan. Those results saw him move to a career-high of World No.15, and he continued his good form with a quarter final appearance at the Manchester Open, before making it into the last 16 of the CIB PSA World Championships.

The Egyptian started the new season in perfect style, as he claimed the title at the inaugural CIB Zed Squash Open. That was followed by a Platinum quarter final, which came at the U.S. Open, before Soliman ended 2022 with a semi-final appearance at the Hong Kong Football Club Open.

Soliman then started 2023 with a quarter final finish at the Houston Open, before also making the last eight of the Sturbridge Capital Motor City Open. The Egyptian also made the semis of the Pittsburgh Open, before then making it to a first Gold level final, as he finished runner-up at the Optasia Championships.
