Yannik Omlor is one of several young Europeans in and around the top 100 of the World Rankings, with the German starting off 2022 inside that mark.

He made his debut on home soil at the Insel Bruggen Open in 2015, and made it into a first semi-final a year later, at the PARETI Squash Open. He made the same stage of the Qatar Circuit No.6 and the Cronimet Open a couple of years later, but had to wait until 2021 before he made his first appearance in a final.

His first outing of the year saw him finish runner-up to compatriot Raphael Kandra at the DSQV Sportwerk 5 & 3, but he would not have to wait long for his maiden crown, winning at the same venue in Hamburg just a month later. He defeated Roshan Bharos to win the DSQV Sportwerk Series No.5.

He then made the semis of the Esche Cup before claiming his second victory, beating Yannick Wilhelmi to lift the Austrian Open crown. Another final followed, at the Elan Vital Open, and he needed the year with a semi-final appearance at the Sportwerk Men’s Open. Those results saw him move into the top 100 to kick off 2022.
