Timothy Brownell is one of several young Americans who have broken inside the world’s top 100 in recent years.

He made his debut on Tour in 2017 at the SYS Open, where he reached the semi-finals. At the start of 2019, the American made his first appearance in the main draw of a Platinum level tournament, as he featured at the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions in New York City.

Brownell then also made the semis of both the Life Time Philadelphia Open and the Wakefield PSA in 2019, before also making it into the last four of the Life Time City Center Challenger in his only outing of 2020 as well, a year that saw the Tour suspended for six months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The American started 2021 strongly, reaching the quarter finals of the Life Time City Centre Men’s Open Presented By NH Specialists and the Life Time Plano International Squash Open - Presented by Resolve Tech Solutions. He then made it to a first final on Tour, doing so at the Assurance Financial Austin South Squash Open, losing out to compatriot Faraz Khan.

A second final came later in the year, as the Nash Cup, before he featured in another Platinum event, at the U.S. Open presented by Truist. Brownell ended the year with a quarter final appearance at the HSC Open - Presented by Assurance Financial.
