Sam Todd is another member of the young English core who is making strides up the World Rankings, and he claimed his first two Tour titles in 2021.
The Englishman had an incredibly successful junior career, winning the British Junior Open and US Junior Open both at three different age categories, along with being British and English Junior Champion multiple times as well
In just his second event on the Tour, Todd featured at the Gold level Citigold Wealth Management Canary Wharf Classic, and soon after that, he made his first final, which came at the Aston & Fincher Sutton Coldfield International. He then also made the final of the Odense Open, the World Championship qualifier, a year later, but lost out to Jan Van Den Herrewegen.
After a couple of early exits to start 2021, Todd found his form, and made at least the semi-finals in five of his next six tournaments, culminating in his maiden victory on Tour. It started with a semi-final appearance at the City of Peterborough Squash & Racketball Club Open, before he finished runner-up at the Stellar New Malden Squash Festival.
The young Englishman then also made the final of the Berkhamsted Linksap Open in that run, before getting over the line in his fourth final on Tour, and he did so at his home club, at the Global Pontefract Men’s Open. He defeated Scotland’s Rory Stewart to take his first title on Tour.
After an appearance in the first round of the Allam British Open, his first at a major tournament, Todd went on to win a second title, claiming the Aston and Fincher Sutton Coldfield International crown. He ended 2021 with a quarter final result at the Commercial Water Solutions Grange Challenger.
