Sabrina Sobhy is following in her older sister, Amanda’s, footsteps, and is one of four Americans inside the world’s top 20.

Her first Tour title came in November 2013 where, despite only being seeded eighth, she rose to the summit to claim the Mercedes of Scottsdale Tournament.

She moved into the world's top 50 for the first time two months later and narrowly missed out on the Liberty Bell Open title after defeat to Heba El Torky in the final. Sobhy made it to the main draw at the 2015 British Open but was dispatched by Joelle King in the first round.

She also made it into the main draws of the Delaware Investment US Open in both 2015 and 2016, but spent a lot of time away from the game to focus on her academic studies. She returned to the PSA World Tour full-time for the 2019-2020 season, and her rise up the World Rankings has coincided with that.

Sobhy sat outside the top 60 in the World Rankings prior to the start of the campaign, but thanks to four victories on the Challenger Tour, including three wins in a row, she is now inside the top 25 for the first time in her professional career.

The younger of the Sobhy sisters won the E.M Coll Classic in February 2019, before then winning the London Open, Monte Carlo Squash Classic and the Serena Huawei Pakistan International Squash Tournament in the space of a month in November and December of the same year.

She then reached the last 16 of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, making it to the third round of a Platinum level event for the firs time in her career, before doing so again at the CIB Egyptian Open, the first major tournament of the 2020-2021 term.

The American then reached the last 16 of the CIB Black Ball Squash Open in the final event of 2020, which saw her move into the top 20 of the World Rankings in January 2021, doing so for the first time in her career. With the rise, three American women were inside the top 20 for the first time in history.

She reached the semi-finals of the Challenger 20 level Squash on Fire Open in early 2021, and followed that with another third round appearance in a Platinum, making the third round at the Allam British Open. Sobhy also made it into the last 16 of the Oracle NetSuite Open at the start of the 2021/2022 season. Sobhy also made the semis of the Squash on Fire Open once again, along with quarter final appearances at both the Cleveland Classic and the Carol Weymuller Open.

The American continued her breakthrough in the 2022-2023 season, as she defeated Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy en route to making her first Platinum quarter final. That came at the U.S. Open, and she also made the last eight of the Oracle NetSuite Open and the Barfoot & Thompson New Zealand Open.

Sobhy made it to the semi-finals of the MARIGOLD Singapore Squash Open in her final event of the year, having also finished runner-up at the Challenger 30 level City Tattersalls Club Australian Open. Those performances pushed her ranking into the top 16 for the first time in her career.

The American was a consistent third rounder in the early part of 2023, making that stage of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, Black Ball Squash Open, British Open and the PSA World Championships. She also reached the semis of both the Squash On Fire Open and Canadian Women’s Open.
