The popular Egyptian Omar Mosaad is known for his tall and imposing figure and hard-hitting style.

‘The Hammer of Thor’ won his first PSA World Tour final at the 2006 FAJR International and his successes over the years earned him the 2008 PSA Young Player of the Year Award. He rose quickly through the World Rankings and broke into the top twenty at the end of 2010 after successes at the Kig Open and the Racquet Club Invitational.

2012 saw Mosaad beat the seasoned Adrian Grant over five games to win the Kuala Lumpur Open and he went on to shock compatriot Karim Darwish and Simon Rösner at the Abierto Mexicano de Raquetas before losing to Gregory Gaultier in straight games in the final.

He made his debut for Egypt in the 2013 World Team Championship and had a 100% record, winning all four of his matches, before finishing as runner-up in the Colombian Open to Peter Barker. Mosaad captured the Macau Open in October 2013 after another win over Adrian Grant.

The talented Egyptian was unable to add to his PSA World Tour title successes in 2014, but did finish runner-up on two separate occasions, at the Colombian Open and the Macau Open again. However, Mosaad ended his title-drought by battling to supremacy at the Internacional PSA Sporta to lift his 10th PSA World Tour title.

After a difficult summer that saw the Egyptian lose his sister and mother in a tragic car accident, October 2015 saw Mosaad reach his first PSA World Series final at the US Open but he fell to Gaultier. A heroic effort at the World Championship a month later saw him reach the final stage but it was Gaultier again who ended his ambitions of lifting the title. His fine form didn’t go unnoticed though and Mosaad climbed into the world’s top 4 players for the first time in his career in December 2015.

2016 brought with it runner-up finishes at both the Colombia Open and Canary Wharf Classic and he was rewarded for his fine season with by leapfrogging three-time World Champion Nick Matthew to reach a career-high World No.3 ranking. Mosaad was also named runner-up for the 2016 PSA Men’s Player of the Year award, but a period of poor form at the beginning of the 2016/17 season saw him slip out of the world’s top three.

Mosaad went onto make the semi-finals of the Al Ahram Squash Open Newgiza in 2016 but then suffered a number of early round exits during the rest of the season. His next final appearance was at the HKFC International in 2017, but he was beaten in a gruelling five-gamer against Leo Au. Mosaad then reached the semi finals of both the US Open and the CCI international to continue his good form.

He finished runner-up twice in 2018. Firstly, he made the final of the Macau Open, where he was beaten by Tsz Fung-Yip, before Daryl Selby got the better of the big Egyptian in the QSF No.1. Mosaad then went on to reach the quarter finals of both the Tournament of Champions and the Motor City Open, before finishing runner-up to Diego Elias in the final of the Macau Open.

The ‘Hammer of Thor’ reached the quarter-finals of the J.P. Morgan China Squash Open in September 2019, before reaching the last 16 of the PSA Men’s World Championship a couple of months later. His best result of the season came at the Pittsburgh Open, where he reached the last four.

Mosaad made it into the last 16 of both events at the Black Ball Sporting Club either side of the New Year, with the Egyptian then reaching the quarter finals of the Manchester Open in 2021. He then went on to start 2022 with a last 16 result at the Gold level Houston Open.

Mosaad reached the last eight of the Squash On Fire Open, before then making the semis of the Karachi Open Squash Championships, losing out to eventual winner Karim Abdel Gawad in the last four. He then also made the last eight of the Necker Mauritius Open presented by Beachcomber Hotels and the QSF 4, before making it to the last four of the CIB Zed Squash Open.

The 'Hammer of Thor' started 2023 by reaching the last 16 of the Houston Open, before then making it to the quarter finals of the Squash On Fire Open in Washington, D.C. Mosaad then ended the campaign with last 16 results at the Manchester Open and the El Gouna International.
