Mario Yanez has cemented himself as one of the leading Mexican players on Tour, and has proven himself to be a consistent performer.
He joined the Tour in the latter part of 2017, and he reached his first final in just the seventh main draw he featured in. He lost out to Chris Hanson at the Vogue Optical Atlantic Squash Championships. He made up for that his next event, winning the Hazlow Electronics Rochester ProAm to claim his first victory on Tour.
Following that came a run of seven events where he reached at least the quarter-finals, including four semi-final appearances, and a runners-up finish at the Carter Classic in 2019. Yanez also made the final at the Rochester ProAm for the second straight year.
His good form carried on throughout the year, reaching two more finals, at the Celestino Martinez Memorial Tournament and the Dominicana Squash Open. He also made it to the last four of the Assante Wealth Management Carter Classic in his first appearance of 2020 as well.
