Karim El Hammamy joined the PSA World Tour in 2011, and despite having to wait five years before he claimed his first title, he has gone on to breach the world’s top 30.

El Hammamy made his first final appearance in 2016 at the Arab Federation Open and then at the Coutrcare Open where he finished runner-up at both tournaments. The Egyptian went onto win his maiden PSA World Tour title at the Texas Open Squash Championship when he breezed past Indian Vikram Malhotra to claim the first Tour title of his career.

He then finished runner-up at the PSA Valencia losing out to Mazen Gamal over four games, leading the Egyptian to break into the world’s top 60 for the first time in his career in 2017. He was then beaten by Mohamed Reda in the quarter finals of both the President Gold Cup International Tournament, before also reaching the last eight of the Holtrand Open and Manitoba Open.

El Hammamy then reached the last eight of the Open International Niort Venise Verte, and the semi finals of the fifth event on the Qatar Circuit. The Egyptian secured victory at the Lagos International Squash Classic, beating Ahmed Hosny in the final. He then reached three more quarter finals in 2018, at the Chamberlain Squash Open, Kolkata International and the Pakistan Open.

The Egyptian also reached the last eight at the CCI International in his first appearance of 2019, and made that same stage of the Cannon Kirk Irish Squash Open and the XII Torneo Internacional PSA Sporta.

He made it into the second round of the CIB Egyptian Open on home soil in 2020, before then also making the semis of the HCL SRFI Indian Tour - Chennai Leg 1 to start 2021. El Hammamy then continued his good form at the El Gouna International Squash Open that year, reaching the third round of a Platinum level tournament for the first time in his career.

He followed that with further trips to the last 16, at both the CIB Egyptian Open and the U.S. Open presented by Truist, with a victory at the CIB Egyptian Challenger Tour 4 coming in between those, where he defeated Zahed Salem in the final.

El Hammamy reached the quarter finals of the Karachi Open Squash Championships early in 2022, and also made the same stage of both the QSF 3 and QSF 4 in Doha. Last 16 appearances also came at the Necker Mauritius Open presented by Beachcomber Hotels and the CIB Zed Squash Open that year.

The second half of the 2022-2023 campaign was a bit more of a struggle for El Hammamy, making the quarter finals of just one event. That came at the Squash On Fire Open in February, but he has since dropped out of the world’s top 40.
