Up-and-coming youngster Jana Shiha is one of several Egyptians to have breached the top 50 in the World Rankings whilst still in her teenage years.

She made her debut on the Tour at the age of just 13, and has already gone on to win four titles in her short career so far, with those four coming in consecutive events in 2019 and 2020.

She has a stunning record on the PSA Challenger Tour, having reached at least the quarter-finals of every main draw she has entered, starting off with the 2018 CIB Wadi Degla Squash Tournament, where she made the last four.

Shiha made the same stage at the Val de Marne, before a last eight result at the Annecy Rose Open in 2019. After a taste of the big stage at the El Gouna International, the young Egyptian went on to win her next four events on the Challenger Tour.

She won the first three evens of the CIB Egyptian Tour in the first half of the 2019-2020 season, winning in El Shams, Port Said and Cairo, before being victorious at the Jaipur Leg of the HCL SRFI Indian Tour. That was followed by a semi-final appearance at the next event on the Egyptian Tour.

Shiha featured in just five events on Tour in 2021, with four of those being Platinum level tournaments. The young Egyptian breached the third round of a major tournament for the first time in her fledgling career, making it into the last 16 of the CIB Egyptian Open, along with also making the second round in El Gouna. Her sole event on the Challenger Tour saw her reach the semis of the Egyptian Challenger Tour #2.

She then also started 2022 by making the last 16 of the CIB Black Ball Open as a wildcard, along with reaching the same stage of the CIB Zed Squash Open at the start of the new campaign. Shiha broke into the world’s top 50 for the first time in the summer of that year.

Shiha reached her first major quarter final in her first appearance of 2023, as she made her way through to the last eight of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions. She also reached the last eight of both the Chestnut Hill Classic and the Women’s Kinetic Orange Ball Challenger.

Those results, along with a semi-final appearance at the St James Women’s Classic, saw Shiha break the world’s top 30 for the first time. She finished the season with a last 16 finish at the Richmond Open.
