USA's Haley Mendez is one of a quintet of American players inside the world's top 40.

Her formative years on court took place at the Heights Casino in Brooklyn. She was coached by exceptional group of former pros including Julian Wellings, Fiona Geaves and Linda Elriani.

During Mendez's junior career she reached a national ranking of #1 as an U19. She was consistently in the top three of her age group and is a three time national finalist. She has represented the U.S. three times at the Junior World Championships, assisting the team to its first ever second place finish. She was the winner of US Squash’s DeRoy Sportsmanship Award presented annually to one male and one female ranked junior who has best represented and demonstrated the principles of fair play and sportsmanship during their junior career. While competing individually she was a four-time letter winner at Packer Collegiate High School and captained the boys’ team during her senior year.

Haley's playing career was interrupted during her senior year when she suffered a torn ACL followed several months later by a torn meniscus. While recovery was an arduous journey, her injuries and two resultant knee operations gave her the opportunity to build upon her coaching skills, in both individual, private lessons and school, team practices. Following this playing hiatus and a successful rehab program, Haley finally embarked upon her professional squash career in the fall of 2016. She eventually plans on going to business school after her playing career.

Mendez reached the semi finals of the Sentara Martha Jefferson Charlottesville Open in 2017, before finishing runner-up to Tinne Gilis in the final of the Internazionali D’Italia at the end of the calendar year. 2018 was a barren year on the PSA Tour for the American, but she did reach the semi finals of the CAC Squash Open, where she lost out to Millie Tomlinson.

Mendez also reached the last eight of the Nash Cup in one of her final tournaments of the calendar year. The American then made the last four of the Racquet Club Pro-Series, where she lost out to Sivasangari Subramanium. She made the last 16 of the Open de France - Nantes presented by Tailor Capital in his first appearance of the 2019/2020 campaign, and recorded a quarter-final appearance at the E.M. Noll Classic in 2020.

The American reached the second round of a major tournament for the first time in her career at the CIB Egyptian Open in 2020, and would also go on to reach the same stage of the Allam British Open a year later. In that time frame, Mendez also made the semis of the SOAP Engineering Squash Open and the last 16 of the Silver level Manchester Open.
