Inverness-born Greg Lobban is one of Scotland's best current players on the PSA World Tour.

He first showed his mettle at the 2012 IMET Open, claiming the title after being seeded eighth for the tournament. Lobban broke the world's top 100 in March 2013 and his fifth PSA World Tour title came at the Steel City Open, beating George Parker in the final.

It was in his home-country of Scotland that Lobban lifted his first PSA M10 crown when he beat Joel Hinds in the final in April 2015. He went on to reach the final of the Victorian Open three months later before losing to Ryan Cuskelly and he followed that up with a quarter-final finish at the Kolkata International which enabled him to reach the world’s top 40 for the first time.

2016 brought a number of early-round exits for Lobban which helped him consolidate his place in the world’s top 40 in the World Rankings for the majority of 2016. Lobban then reached the final of both the Chicago Open and Arnold Homes Tring Open in 2017, losing out narrowly to Campbell Grayson and England’s Declan James.

Lobban was sidelined for seven months of the season after he suffered a hamstring tear during his final clash with Grayson. However, the Scotsman soon rediscovered his form when he returned to the squash court in May, reaching six finals and claiming three titles – including wins at the Vitesse Stortford Classic, the NZ International Classic and the Invercargill Open.

The Scot then reached the final of the Harrow Sports Charlottesville Open as well, but lost out to Nicolas Mueller in the final. He made two semi final appearances in 2018, making the last four of both the Vedanta Indian Squash Open and then QSF No.1. He made a run to the last 16 of the Tournament of Champions in New York in 2019, before making the semis of the CAS International Squash Championship and the Macau Open later the same year.

The Scottish No.1 won the HKFC International Squash Open and the Cleveland Skating Club Open in the early part of the 2019-2020 campaign, before being a consistent last 32 performer at the major events. At the end of 2019, Lobban led Scotland's quartet at the WSF Men's World Team Squash Championships.

He reached the quarter-finals of the St. James’s Place Canary Wharf Classic, what was to be the last men’s event before the suspension of the tour due to COVID-19. When the tour restarted, Lobban made it to the last 16 of the Manchester Open, the first event of the 2020-2021 campaign, and he made the move to World No.21, his highest ever position in the PSA World Rankings to date.

The Scot then suffered from a slight dip in form, but managed to reach the second round of the Qatar Classic, CIB Black Ball Squash Open, El Gouna International Squash Open and Allam British Open over the course of the season. He then made the quarter finals of the Cleveland Skating Club Open in the latter part of 2021.

Lobban also made it into the last eight of the Squash On Fire Open before securing another Challenger 30 level crown. He did so at the Cannon Kirk Irish Squash Open, getting the better of compatriot and good friend Alan Clyne in the final in Dublin.

He had an incredible summer, as he claimed a first Commonwealth Games medal. Alongside partner Rory Stewart, Lobban took Bronze in the Men’s Doubles for his native Scotland, before claiming the Scottish National title for a second time, nine years on from his first.

In the second half of the year, the Scot reached the last 16 of the CIB Egyptian Open, Robertson Lodges New Zealand Open and the Hong Kong Football Club Open, along with finishing runner-up at the City Tattersalls Club Australian Open, losing out to former World No.4 Miguel Rodriguez.

The Scottish No.1 made the last 16 of the Manchester Open in 2023, but struggled somewhat in the majors in the second half of the season, making the second round of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, British Open, PSA World Championships and the El Gouna International.
